1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a great alternative for those who want a an automated, hands-free cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot when it is full.
Both robots are adept in removing dirt and dust particles on floors and carpets, and they can easily navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we evaluated the i3+ does not have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can get stuck on things like socks or power cords and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station and automatically empties its dirt into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for approximately an hour and a half continuous use. It takes about three hours to recharge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest technology. It has self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is the self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or via the app.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot on how to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected we were able to give the i7+ voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to collect large crumbs and fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It swiftly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum and back.
This model also has an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments as well as an clip for a wand. This is a major improvement over earlier Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its sluggish run time. Its marketing claims that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are a bit misleading, as CR's testing shows. 4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums, the 694 is an affordable model that's an excellent option for those who don't want to spend too much on a robot. It was able to remove the majority of types of debris in our tests, and frequently went over the same area multiple times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the walls' edges which is a nice addition.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and guide you through your home. It's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. It may get stuck on phone cords or furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 in that it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower cost of recurring costs and has more advanced automation capabilities and can better move its own. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges quicker.
The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, because it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter its suction power mode manually and comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built, has a more powerful motor, and works better on bare floors and carpets with low pile, while offering a wider range of automation features.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not a surprise that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app offers a wide range of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings and many more. The app is easy to use and understand as are other Samsung devices.
In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it. However, it wasn't particularly well in avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks which was a disappointment. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we've tested which could be a deterrent for some shoppers.
The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that you can access through the app, and you can also create a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. The app also makes it easy to manually steer the robot in the event of need. My living room rug for instance is darkly colored that could cause trouble for other robots. The HRV 425BL however continued to travel across the border without registering the high point. Also, the ability to set up the weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
